Agriculture Commodity Technician Cotton (HVI Operator)

Applications will be accepted for seasonal HVI Operator position starting September 30th, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until all positions are filled.   • Agriculture Commodity Technician Cotton (HVI Operator) GS-1981-3/1, $17.06 per hour.  

This position requires individuals to work on a High Volume Instrument (HVI) system and operate various equipment components to measure cotton sample properties in a timely and accurate way in a production environment. The work is performed under conditions where lint and dust are present. Work requires mental activity and finger dexterity, standing for long periods of time and working effectively with others. Work experience in data entry, computer skills, production, or piecework helpful but not necessary.

Applicant must meet the following requirements:

Education Requirements: Qualified applicants must provide proof of high school diploma or GED.

Weekend and Holiday work is mandatory.  Must be able to work any shift.  Background checks are performed on all applicants.

All applicants must be U. S. Citizens; and must be prepared to show a valid Driver’s License/Picture I.D, Social Security Card, and proof of high school diploma and/or GED. A Member 4 copy of a DD-214 must be provided to qualify for veteran’s preference. If you are a male born after Dec. 31, 1959, and are at least 18 years of age, civil service employment law (5 U.S.C.3328) requires that you must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless you meet certain exemptions (proof of registration and/ or exemption required).
