The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) today launched its “USDA PACA” mobile app, improving and modernizing access to our services for companies that buy and sell fruits and vegetables and rely on AMS’s enforcement of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA) to help ensure fair trading practices within the U.S. produce industry.
The free app, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, provides mobile access to many of the same user-friendly options that AMS announced in May 2019 when it launched ePACA, a one-stop electronic shop for its PACA services. Both the new app and the web version of ePACA tools offer real-time PACA search capability that provides immediate information regarding a company’s PACA license and complaint status, ensuring that produce sellers can make informed business decisions when making sales. The app also provides links to information about applying for a license, filing a complaint, and contacting PACA directly.
“This new ‘USDA PACA’ app is part of our continuing effort to ensure that our programs are delivered efficiently, effectively with integrity and a focus on customer service,” said AMS Administrator Bruce Summers. “This mobile version of our ePACA website will give our customers access to information wherever they are and whenever they need it.”
The PACA Division regulates fair trading practices of produce businesses, including buyers, sellers, commission merchants, dealers and brokers within the fruit and vegetable industry.
