Federal Grain Inspection Service to Host Webinar Feb. 27
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has published a Review of Geographic Area Boundaries (pdf), in accordance with the U.S. Grain Standards Act (reauthorized on December 11, 2020) and released a new data visualization tool for accessing and reviewing grain inspection information within such boundaries.
Geographic boundaries represent areas within which designated state and private entities provide official federal grain inspection and weighing services. In the review, AMS’s Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) considers several factors related to such boundaries and provides several recommendations to improve certain practices related to the maintenance of geographic boundaries.
FGIS also posted a new Grain Inspection Data Visualization tool, which displays geographic boundaries, approved exceptions and information about delegated state, designated official agency, and FGIS offices that provide official services. Users will have the ability to engage with grain inspection data in a more interactive manner. Over time, the tool will include more information and capability that aid data analysis.
FGIS will host a Data Visualization Webinar to provide an overview of the tool on Feb. 27, 2023. Those who wish to attend must register for the webinar in advance.
