April 06, 2018

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking nominees to fill three producer seats for the Christmas Tree Promotion Board. Nominations for these seats are due to the board by June 1, 2018. The board will hold an election to select nominees for consideration by USDA for appointment to succeed members whose terms expire on Dec. 31, 2018.

Applications are available through the board at info@christmastreepromotionboard.org, or by contacting the board’s Executive Director Tim O’Connor at (800) 985-0773 or tim@christmastreepromotionboard.org. You may also contact USDA Marketing Specialist Victoria Carpenter at (202) 720-6930 or victoriam.carpenter@ams.usda.gov.

The board is composed of 12 industry representatives, including 11 producers from the western, central and eastern regions of the United States and an importer member. The list of current board members and states in each region is available on the Christmas Tree Promotion Board page on the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) website.

The board is industry-funded and supports the national marketing and promotion of fresh cut Christmas trees. Since 1966, Congress has authorized 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal responsibility, program efficiency and fair treatment of participating stakeholders.
