As previously announced on Feb. 6, 2020, Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News (LPGMN) will introduce a new market report dissemination process later this month, affecting both Livestock Mandatory Reporting (LMR) and a limited set of LPGMN voluntary reports.
After hearing from stakeholders that additional time is needed to prepare for this transition, LPGMN will continue publishing legacy LMR text reports for an additional six months until Aug. 21, 2020. The text reports will be published along with the new PDF report versions. All other enhancements will move forward as planned. Report identification numbers and URLs will still change on Feb. 22, 2020. A list of new identification numbers and URLs will be posted on My Market News, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) website, and LMR DataMart website by early next week (week of Feb. 17, 2020).
Several stakeholders have relied upon the text reports to automatically retrieve Market News data; however, as a modern alternative, customers are encouraged to access the My Market News API and LMR Web Service to consume data more effectively, efficiently, and on demand. Customers can also access LMR report data through the XML Format link at the bottom of each PDF report.
These enhancements are part of a larger initiative to improve the customer experience by providing greater access to Market News data through more modern tools. These enhancements also allow AMS to upgrade its information technology infrastructure by providing a single, more easily managed system for collecting and disseminating LPGMN data.
