Grades of Pecans in the Shell
- “U.S. Extra Fancy” consists of pecans in the shell which meet the following requirements:
- Free from loose extraneous or foreign material.
- Shells are:
- Uniform in color; and
- Free from damage by any cause.
- Kernels are:
- Well developed;
- Well cured;
- Moisture content shall be not more than 6 percent, unless otherwise specified;
- Uniform in color and not darker than “light;” and
- Free from damage by any cause.

- “U.S. Fancy” consists of pecans in the shell which meet the following requirements:
- Free from loose extraneous or foreign material.
- Shells are:
- Uniform in color; and
- Free from damage by any cause.
- Kernels are:
- Fairly well developed;
- Well cured;
- Moisture content shall be not more than 6 percent, unless otherwise specified;
- Uniform in color;
- Not darker than “light amber,” unless specified to a lighter color classification; and
- Free from damage by any cause.
