The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Federal Grain Inspection Service today announced that it is seeking comments on proposed revisions to the Federal Grain Inspection regulations. AMS is required to revise the regulations as a result of 2018 Farm Bill amendments to the U.S. Grain Standards Act.
The revised regulations would allow designated official agencies to perform grain inspections outside their geographic areas under certain additional conditions. The proposed revisions are based on industry input and are intended to provide additional flexibility to the industry while protecting the integrity of the official system. AMS is seeking public comment on regulatory language proposed within this notice.
The proposed rule and instructions on how to submit comments were published in the Federal Register on August 19, 2021. Comments must be received by September 20, 2021.
