The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians are requesting LFPA Plus funding to expand territory and service from the original round of LFPA funding. This additional funding will allow the purchase of locally grown, unprocessed, and/or minimally processed food to disadvantaged families and individuals in El Dorado, Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, Alpine and Amador Counties. The Food Bank of El Dorado County will remain the community-based organization which partners with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians to procure, warehouse, and distribute all products purchased by the program. The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians will expand their service with community-based organizations and Tribal entities to provide a greater quantity and diversity of products to disadvantaged populations in rural communities throughout El Dorado County. The LFPA Plus Program will allow the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians to expand their service area to include Alpine and Amador counties to the other currently serviced counties in order to get more product to surrounding rural, remote, and underserved areas of Northern California’s foothills and mountainous regions. Expanding this service area and adding more funding to purchase products will allow the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians to reach an estimated 2,500 individuals during the grant period from 10/1/2022 to 6/1/2025.
