USDA Announces Extension of Dairy Forward Pricing Program

USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is announcing the extension of the Dairy Forward Pricing Program effective immediately. The Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act of 2024 extends the Dairy Forward Pricing Program to allow new contracts to be entered into until Sept. 30, 2024. Forward contracts may be entered into through the Sept. 30, 2024, deadline and may extend only through the Sept. 30, 2027, expiration date. USDA will publish an update to the deadline dates in the regulations in the Federal Register.

USDA Publishes Final Decision on Amendments to the Appalachian, Florida and Southeast Milk Marketing Orders and Agreements

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has published a final decision on amendments to the inter-market transportation credits in the Appalachian and Southeast Federal milk marketing orders (FMMOs) and recommends the establishment of distributing plant delivery credits in the Appalachian, Southeast and Florida FMMOs. The final decision also includes responses to public comments on the recommended decision.

USDA Seeks Nominees for the Processed Pear Committee

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for the Processed Pear Committee to fill two grower member seats, one handler member seat, two processor member seats, and five alternates whose terms will begin July 1, 2024. The appointed members will serve two-year terms.

Nominations will be held at the following meetings:

District 1 – State of Washington

  • December 4 at 1:15 p.m. at Three Rivers Convention Center, Tri-Cities, Washington.

District 2 – State of Oregon

Milk in the Appalachian, Florida, and Southeast Marketing Areas; Recommended Decision on Proposed Amendments to Marketing Agreements and to Orders

Summary

This final rule amends the transportation credit balancing fund provisions for the Appalachian and Southeast Federal milk marketing orders and establishes distributing plant delivery credits in the Appalachian, Florida, and Southeast Federal milk marketing orders. More than the required number of producers in the three impacted marketing areas have approved the issuance of the final order.
