The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe (LLBO) Farm to Consumer Food Initiative will purchase $300,000 per year of culturally appropriate food from regional farmers, with a focus on those operated by indigenous or other minority communities over a three-year period. The funds will be used to provide product to low-income tribal members that reside in food desert or those known to be chronically food insecure which will also include those living in the Twin Cities area. Distribution will occur through the LLBO Elderly Nutrition Program, community events, community centers, and home delivery.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations for the Paper and Packaging Board to fill two additional member seats with terms beginning on Jan. 1, 2025. Nomination applications are due by July 18, 2024.
