Organic Training

The National Organic Program is the organization responsible for developing and enforcing standards associated with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) and the USDA organic regulations. The key functions of the NOP include setting organic standards, accreditation of organic certifiers, and enforcement.

The National Organic Program Organic Integrity Learning Center supports the professional development and continuing education of professionals working to protect organic integrity by providing free online training. Core audiences for the Learning Center include organic certifiers, inspectors, reviewers, and professionals serving a compliance and enforcement role in organic control systems. The Learning Center also provides a wide range of free training and outreach materials for organic farmers/operators and organic handlers.

  • Microlearnings

    The National Organic Program Microlearning course contains a library of NOP microlearnings. Each microlearning presents a short topic accompanied by a knowledge check. Microlearnings are designed for on-the-job learning and are not graded.

  • Courses

    The Organic Integrity Learning Center offers free online courses to support the professional development and continuing education of professionals working to protect organic integrity. Courses are designed using USDA Organic standards, rules, and regulations to support the USDA's goals of fair and consistent certification and enforcement. Continuing Education Units are available for completed courses.

  • Additional Trainings

    In addition to courses and microlearnings, other educational resources are available in the Learning Center's NOP-900 series courses. The NOP Training Archive (NOP-999) includes read-only versions of all courses. The NOP Presentations course (NOP-998) contains material delivered at conferences, meetings, and training sessions. The Growing the Organic Workforce course (NOP-996) contains resources to support organic industry professionals.
